Sir,
153 Chambers, C.O. 9332 ref 17 MAR 09
3rd February, 1909.
Dear Sir,
In reply to Your Excellency's letter of today's date, I have the honour to inform you that I shall be at Government House at 2.30 on Friday next as suggested.
2. It should, I think, be possible for the Chief Justice and the Governor to discuss a question without the presence of the Colonial Secretary. I doubt, indeed, whether there will be any views expressed by either of us which will want recording, or as to which there is likely to be any misapprehension. I propose to take up the threads of a conversation I had with Your Excellency at Mountain Lodge in 1907.
Although I feel very keenly the way in which I have been treated by the Government, I do not propose to depart from the attitude of consideration which I have observed throughout.
I have etc.,
(sd.) F. T. Piggott, Chief Justice.
His Excellency The Governor.
